Program of Project Description

Narrative: During this one quarter project, entitled The Future of Wine in Wisconsin, the student will look into the future climate of Wisconsin and if it will be suitable for growing wine grapes. The student will also dig into the characteristics of the world of wine by doing wine tastings and comparisons and recording their findings. The student will also cook meals, everything from cheeses to meats to desserts, to pair with wines. The student will survey the critical research needed to complete all parts of the project.

Learning objective
ActivityDeliverable
I want to learn how suitable Wisconsin could be for the future wine industry.– I will look into the current and future soil structure, geography, and climate of Wisconsin to come to the conculsion if Wisconsin will be suitable for growing wine grapes. I will use https://wicci.wisc.edu/ as my starting point.
– I will research into what climate and geography is needed to grow grapes, along with how to grow grapes, and what grape varieties prefer what type of climates.
I will share this research in weekly ePortfolio posts.
I want to learn more about the characteristics of wine.– I will research wine characteristics through Wine Folly by Madeline Puckette and Justin Hammack and Wine: A Tasting Course by Marnie Old.
– I will be doing tastings and comparisons of wines.
– I will be researching how to pair wines with cheeses and foods through A Master Sommelier’s Practical Advice for Partnering Wine with Food by Evan Goldstein and Tasting Wine and Cheese by Adam Centamore.
I will share this research in weekly ePortfolio posts.
