With respect, we acknowledge the indigenous people of the Northwest whose land on which the Evergreen State College campus resides. The land was ceded to the federal government in the Medicine Creek Treaty of 1854. We specifically acknowledge the Squaxin people who are the traditional custodians of this land and pay respect to the elders past and present of the Squaxin Island Tribe. We extend that respect to all other Native people.
