Program of Project Description

Narrative: This one-quarter, in-program project, titled Natural Dyes: From Plant to Product, is designed to research natural dyes and natural dying processes. I will be using a variety of books on natural dyes, including Botanical Inks by Babs Behan and Wild Color by Jenny Dean, in order to gain knowledge on the history of natural dyes, natural dyes that are available locally to me, and how to carry out personal dying experiments. These experiments will consist of foraging for my own dye materials, gathering materials for a personal dying kit, and dying a variety of different fibers.
