UNDERSTANDING GERMINATION CHAMBER TRIALS

Fluorescent light appears to be evenly distributed.

It was helpful to meet with the sponsors and student research group on Friday. We’ve established that we have access to a 22 in. by 15 in. space in the lab germination chamber. We can use DI water for hydrating filter paper initially and throughout the study. The light appears to be very evenly distributed, and it will be already programmed by faculty to shut on and off, as well as temperature regulated. (Temp. and Hrs. light per day TBD).

Additionally, I’ve briefly researched germination via filter paper and environmental chambers. Also, reviewing published germination studies to better understand their purpose and contextualize the language of formal scientific journals on germination.
