Program of Project Description

Narrative: Adventures in WWOOFing: Moon Valley Organics Herb Farm will highlight the work and learning of the student as they embark on a WWOOF USA experience hosted at Moon Valley Organics Herb Farm. Through the summer months of July and August, the student will learn about and participate in the work that goes into running a commercial herb farm. Working four days a week with support from the Moon Valley farm manager and fellow WWOOFers, the student will harvest and process herbs, keep up with general farm maintenance, work with the farm chickens, and help out on any other projects needed in the time that the student is working. The student’s work and learning will be highlighted through weekly posts with photos and writing on a WordPress website. In addition, the student will explore annotation techniques and connection-making through engagement with two books, Braiding Sweetgrass by Robin Wall Kimmerer and The Organic Medicinal Herb Farmer by Jeff and Melanie Carpenter.
