2022 Follow-Up Actions from C2C

Heat and Smoke Standards to Protect Workers:

C2C asks that you call Governor Inslee and ask him to have staff review the letter sent to him and sign on to the Western States Pact, with Oregon and California and direct the WA State Agency Washington DOSH, to adopt consistent heat and smoke standards with strong enforcement ahead of the 2022 summer harvest season.

Flood Relief:

Many people are still facing displacement from their home, loss of belongings and needed appliances, loss of transportation, and even loss of work due to the significant flooding that occurred in November 2021 in Whatcom County and the still significant damages that remain. C2C has worked hard with flood relief efforts, and donations are still being distributed directly to those in the community who need them. Mutual funds are seriously needed.

You can also donate to C2C to support Promotoras’ work with farmworker families in rural Whatcom and Skagit Counties. Support, Solidarity, and Service to Community!

You can donate here. Checks can also be mailed to 203 W. Holly, Suite 311. Bellingham, Washington 98225

Bellingham Immigration Advisory Board: Create an Immigrant Resource Center!

Call or email Bellingham mayor Seth Fleetwood and demand that he stop his anti-immigrant rhetoric and instead practice good governance and racial equity by supporting the Immigration Advisory Board as they work to create an Immigrant Resource Center funded within the city budget.

Dignity Vigils and the I.C.E Enforcement Removals Operations Building in Ferndale:

C2C has been holding weekly Dignity Vigils outside of the business park at Pacific highway and Admiral pl in Ferndale, WA since July 2021, after community members reported being detained in an unmarked building there. C2C has since learned that there are two I.C.E. facilities in that business park, existing without public visibility or accountability. We want this facility shut down. You can join the Dignity Vigils in Ferndale (near Bellingham) every Monday at noon, or follow the calls to action in the flyer.
