Program of Project Description

Narrative: During winter quarter, the student will read Richard Powers’ The Overstory and write an additional chapter based on their relationship with the cocoa tree, drawing upon experience from studying abroad in Jamaica. “There is a world alongside ours – vast, slow, interconnected, resourceful, magnificently inventive, and almost invisible to us. This is the story of a handful of people who learn how to see that world and who are drawn up into its unfolding catastrophe.” The student will infuse themself into a chapter that would fit in with Powers’ book.
