Sword Fern:
Scientific Name: Polystichum munitum
Location: All over the Mountain Habitat
Origins: Northwestern North America
Application: Sword ferns while a good garden plant also have multiple uses such as in candles, ink, and medicinal uses against nettle.
Bracken Fern:
Scientific Name: Pteridium aquilinum
Location: Everywhere across the Mountain Habitat, mostly found a bit further back from the developed trail
Origins: Bracken Fern is native to the Pacific Northwest and other regions of Northen North America
Application: Bracken Fern is primarily used for thatch roofing and was used in the past to create soap and tan leathers; it was also a notable dye to create yellow wool.
Salal:
Scientific Name: Gaultheria shallon
Location: Everywhere across the Mountain Habitat
Origins: Salal is native Western North America to Alaska
Application: Salal is a major source of food for both animals and humans who live where it grows, its is most notably used as a sweetener for meals. The plant is also quite sturdy and thus is quite populus in the regions where it grows.
