The student will learn about history and culture through applying what is learned while cooking and through consulting cookbooks and working in the Terrior\/Meroir community herb garden project. Specific learning objectives are to learn and identify the difference and similarities between medical and culinary herbs and crate an applied foodoir based on these examples:&nbsp;<em>The Rise: Black Cooks and The Soul of American Cooking&nbsp;<\/em>and<em>&nbsp;Yes, Chef: A Memoir<\/em>&nbsp;both by Marcus Samuelsson, and&nbsp;<em>The Cooking Gene<\/em>&nbsp;by Michael Twitty, as well as&nbsp;<em>Complete Herbal<\/em>&nbsp;by&nbsp;Nicholas Culpeper and&nbsp;<em>Medicinal Plants of the Pacific West<\/em>&nbsp;by&nbsp;Michael Moore.&nbsp;Evaluated work WILL include weekly posts, an eportfolio, and a final presentation. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-table\"><table class=\"\"><tbody><tr><td><strong>Learning objective<br> <\/strong><\/td><td><strong>Activity<\/strong><\/td><td><strong>Deliverable<\/strong><\/td><\/tr><tr><td>&nbsp;To gain skills intending and managing the herb garden on the Evergreen Organic Farm&nbsp;with reference to Culpeper&#8217;s Complete Herbal and Michael Moore\u2019s Medicinal Plants of the Pacific West <\/td><td>&nbsp; Help to weed and harvest plants, growing hyssop and shiso for the SPSCC CBD program.
