Throughout this quarter student will approach &#8220;good cooking&#8221; through the lens of food instability in the Greater Olympia Area, looking to improve their communities access to food and cooking. They will also use this time to improve upon their own cooking skills, and expand their menu while staying within their budget and using the food resources they find available to them through their research.The project will include reading and annotating four cookbooks,\u00a0<em>Salt Fat Acid Heat\u00a0<\/em>By Samin Nosrat,\u00a0<em>The Zero Waste Cookbook\u00a0<\/em>By Giovanna Torrico and Amelia Wasliev,\u00a0<em>Nigella Express\u00a0<\/em>By Nigella Lawson,\u00a0<em>Animal, Vegetable, Junk<\/em>\u00a0by Mark Bittman,\u00a0<em>Taste: What You&#8217;re Missing\u00a0<\/em>by Barb Stucky\u00a0and\u00a0<em>Mastering the Art of French Cooking\u00a0<\/em>By Julia Child. Student is currently enrolled in\u00a0<em>Taste: What We Hunger For<\/em>, where they are taking the community gardening (CR.2), tasting lab (CR.2), food seminar (CR.2), and scholarly ingredients (CR.2) modules. Work will be uploaded weekly to an eportfolio.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-table\"><table class=\"\"><tbody><tr><td><strong>Learning objective<br> <\/strong><\/td><td><strong>Activity<\/strong><\/td><td><strong>Deliverable<\/strong><\/td><\/tr><tr><td>\u00a0To explore and further develop meal prep and cooking skills, approaching from a lens of accessibility and food instability.\u00a0\u00a0<\/td><td>\u00a0I will annotate relevant and interesting cookbooks, explore and document key details about the recipe, cooking process, costs, and accessibility associated with good cooking.\u00a0<\/td><td>Detailed cooking log with pictures and reflections.\u00a0<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>\u00a0To identify and compile the resources available in the Greater Olympia Area to combat community hunger and food instability.\u00a0<\/td><td>I will compile, research, and speak to the available food resources that are available the Greater Olympia Area.
