The student will use the &#8220;dive&#8221; metaphor from Jenea Cohens\u00a0<em>Sim Dive Surface\u00a0<\/em>to explore connections between food access and access to knowledge and academia.\u00a0Readings will include &#8220;If All the Stores Close, We Need Food&#8221; by Rachel Warton, the introduction to\u00a0<em>Global Food Futures: Feeding the World in 2050\u00a0<\/em>by Brian Gardener, &#8220;From Dirt&#8221; by Camile T. Dungy, and selected readings from\u00a0<em>Skim Dive Surface\u00a0<\/em>by Jenea Cohen and\u00a0<em>Braiding Sweetgrass\u00a0<\/em>by Robin Wall Kimmerer. At the end of the quarter the student will compile a document of their best suggestions for decreasing hunger on campus with supporting evidence from the readings.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-table\"><table><tbody><tr><td><strong>Learning objective<br> <\/strong><\/td><td><strong>Activity<\/strong><\/td><td><strong>Deliverable<\/strong><\/td><\/tr><tr><td>\u00a0To further my understanding of the applications of Hypothes.is and its uses in food studies.\u00a0<\/td><td>\u00a0I will read and annotate part 2 of\u00a0<em>Skim, Dive, Surface<\/em>\u00a0by Jenea Cohen to explore the uses and applications of hypothes.is and digital reading. This chapter explore the &#8220;dive&#8221; aspect of the analogy, expanding on connection, creativity, and contextualization. As I progress to researching and observing practical applications of food systems this &#8220;dive&#8221; metaphor will be in tandem with Hypothes.is to explore the connections between digital reading and food access. I will also use hypothes.is to annotate other thematic readings for the quarter.\u00a0<\/td><td>Weekly WordPress posts <\/td><\/tr><tr><td>\u00a0To explore the effects of community food systems and anti-hunger infrastructure, and hypothesize ways in which we may decrease hunger at the Evergreen State College.\u00a0<\/td><td>\u00a0I will explore thematic readings relating to\u00a0community food systems and anti-hunger infrastructure and its effect on related communities.
