Discuss how cooking is another way to engage in growing plants, drawing and being creative, and relaxation practices<ul><li>Nutrition discussion questions<\/li><\/ul><\/li><li>Make mango salsa &amp; write recipe in books<ul><li>Cooking is creative and you can do whatever you want in the kitchen \u2013 no rules!<\/li><\/ul><ul><li>Add cabbage to make it a slaw, add chopped chicken to make it a chicken salad, adjust spices and flavors as you like.<\/li><\/ul><ul><li>Don\u2019t be afraid of adding fruits into savory dishes (peach chicken, blackberry vinaigrettes, fruit in salads, etc.)<\/li><\/ul><\/li><li><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" width=\"595\" height=\"848\" src=\"https:\/\/wordpress.evergreen.edu\/foodag-portfolio-fall22-fidanzato\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/1026\/2022\/10\/mango-slaw.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-75\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center has-text-color\" style=\"color:#615656;font-size:25px;font-style:normal;font-weight:700\"><em><strong>To begin the season, I felt it was important to establish language right off the bat to begin creating a safe space for conversations about our bodies, food, and mental healt<\/strong>h. <strong>Endin<\/strong>g stigmas and isolations regarding these issues can only begin to be tackled through discussion. Affirming that HOPE&#8217;s table is a safe space to share and explore these topics was the first step to beginning the program. <\/em> <\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-columns\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-column\">\n<pre class=\"wp-block-preformatted has-light-gray-color has-text-color has-background\" style=\"background-color:#7e6a6a\">I handed out everyone's Garden Journals as we sat around the picnic tables. I asked a series of questions - themes we will return to later in the season - and they wrote out their answers inside their new journals. Once finished, we began to chop up vegetables for our meal. While doing so, we discussed our answers together. There was no requirement to share or participate in the conversation, only to listen. <\/pre>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-column\">\n<pre class=\"wp-block-preformatted has-light-gray-color has-text-color has-background has-small-font-size\" style=\"background-color:#7b5e5e\"><strong>Some of the questions we discussed:\n<\/strong>\n- What is your relationship to snacking like? \n- What is your relationship to vegetables?\n- What is one of your favorite meals?\n- Do you experiment with new and unfamiliar foods? What was the last new food you tried?\n- What food makes you happy?\n- Can you decipher your cravings?\n- Are you a routine or convenience eater?\n- Do you notice reactions your body has to foods that you eat? (Bloating, blood sugar spike, nausea, energy, etc.)\n- Do you think you have autonomy around foods accessible to you?  \n- How is your family's relationship to food?\n<\/pre>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-gallery has-nested-images columns-default is-cropped\">\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" width=\"1022\" height=\"768\" data-id=\"125\"  src=\"https:\/\/wordpress.evergreen.edu\/foodag-portfolio-fall22-fidanzato\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/1026\/2022\/10\/F334D09D-AC02-41B0-9F44-90AE575D3376_1_105_c-1.jpeg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-125\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" width=\"1024\" height=\"768\" data-id=\"127\"  src=\"https:\/\/wordpress.evergreen.edu\/foodag-portfolio-fall22-fidanzato\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/1026\/2022\/10\/654E41D7-DC6A-4835-9A1F-3AFFC1D15280_1_105_c.jpeg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-127\" \/><\/figure>\n<\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center has-text-color has-small-font-size\" style=\"color:#868e5d\"><em>Throughout the week we focused on building up the soil and planting seeds at the Callanan Community Garden and tidied up the beds at the hospital garden. We played lots of great games and enjoyed &#8220;Sit-Spot Time&#8221; &#8211; a time when everyone picks a place to sit and be in silence for 10-15 minutes.
