Help small businesses and producers compete in global trade
International trade is dominated by the largest producers and distributors of goods. Tastes vary worldwide, in food, in style, and in function, different things are valued in different places. The gap in value based on culture and geography can be a great way for producers to see more value out of their products. However, for most small businesses, there is no obvious or economically viable way to distribute their goods in another market. In our ideal world, there would be no middle man in trade, instead, a series of facilitators. A small Tulip farm in the Netherlands can have a direct relationship with a flower shop in New York City. Direct relationships between producers and consumers create better economic conditions for producers and increased value for consumers both in the quality and price of goods they consume.Replacing the traditional ways chains of importers, wholesalers, and distributors who’s speculation and arbitrage ultimately lessens the value seen by the original producers and increases the end cost to consumers.
